Nick Smith is a BBC-trained director and cinematographer, a bestselling author, award-winning filmmaker, artist and actor born in Bristol, England. He directed Bagpipes of Caledonia (a documentary) and is currently directing Cold Soldiers (an espionage thriller) for Clandestine Films. As an actor, he has worked in film, TV and theatre. His short films include Testament and Breaking Up is Hard to Do. Smith founded and ran The Film School Scotland for five years (1997-2002). At the same time he ran a production company, Fierce Films, where he wrote and directed projects starring Sir David Frost and helped to produce the Royal Television Society award winning short, Space. He worked on feature films, The Little Vampire (w/ Jonathan Lipnicki & Richard E. Grant), Lain Banks' Complicity (w/ Jonny Lee Miller & Brian Cox) and Ken Loach’s Hold Back the Night. TV credits include Gulliver’s Travels (with Sir John Gielgud & Peter O'Toole), Army Wives for Lifetime and Army Wives Gives Back. He also produces music videos, showreels and commercials.
